About the author

The Yellowstone Library and Museum Association was organized in 1933 as a nonprofit partner supporting Yellowstone National Park’s library, museum, and educational efforts. According to the National Park Service, it was the predecessor of today’s Yellowstone Forever and was formed in part to help establish and develop a Yellowstone park library for rangers, naturalists, and others working with the public.

Over time, the association became known as a publisher of Yellowstone-focused books, trail guides, and natural history titles. Library catalogs and book records show it was responsible for a wide range of publications about the park’s wildlife, geology, history, and visitor experience, helping make specialized Yellowstone knowledge available in a clear, accessible form.

Rather than being a single writer, it is best understood as an institutional author tied to Yellowstone’s interpretive mission. That background gives its publications a distinctly place-based character: informative, practical, and closely connected to the park itself.
