Wilson Tucker was the pen name of Arthur Wilson "Bob" Tucker, an American writer born in Deer Creek, Illinois, on November 23, 1914, and he spent much of his life in Bloomington, Illinois. Before and alongside his fiction career, he was deeply involved in science fiction fandom, writing for fanzines as Bob Tucker and becoming a well-known voice in fan culture.

As a novelist, he wrote mystery, adventure, and science fiction, building a reputation for clear storytelling and inventive premises. Among his best-known books are The Long Loud Silence, The Lincoln Hunters, and The Year of the Quiet Sun. He also received major recognition within the field, including a Hugo Award for fan writing.

He died on October 6, 2006, in St. Petersburg, Florida. Readers still return to his work for its mix of suspense, wit, and classic science fiction imagination.
