Born in Cricieth and raised in Barmouth, William Watkin Davies was a Welsh barrister, lecturer, and author. Archive records describe him as the son of the Rev. John Gwynoro Davies and Jeannie Mary Watkin, and note that he studied at the University College of Wales, Aberystwyth, before going on to St John's College, Oxford, where he graduated in modern history.
