by William R. (William Revell) Moody, Henry Davenport Northrop
Born in 1869, William Revell Moody was the elder son of Dwight L. Moody and Emma C. Revell Moody. He studied at Mount Hermon and later graduated from Yale in 1891, growing up in the center of the revival movement his father helped shape.
He became closely involved with the work at Northfield after his father's death in 1899, helping lead the schools and conferences there. In 1912 he became president of the Northfield Schools, and he remained an important figure in that community for many years.
As an author, he is remembered above all for writing The Life of Dwight L. Moody, an early and influential biography of his father. Because he wrote from within the family and the Northfield circle, his work carries both the closeness of personal memory and the purpose of preserving a major religious legacy.
