About the author

Born in Kansas City, Missouri, William F. Nolan built a long career as a novelist, short story writer, screenwriter, and editor. He is most widely remembered as the co-author, with George Clayton Johnson, of Logan’s Run, the dystopian novel that became a major part of his legacy.

Nolan wrote across several genres, including science fiction, fantasy, horror, mystery, and crime. Alongside his fiction, he was also known for his work as an anthologist and for writing about other major writers, especially within mystery and suspense. That range helped give his work an energetic, wide-ranging feel.

He died on July 15, 2021, at age 93. For many readers, his name remains closely tied to classic speculative fiction, but his body of work was much broader: he was a versatile, hardworking author whose influence reached well beyond a single famous title.
