About the author
William Clinton Ewing was born in Enfield, Massachusetts, in 1875 and died in 1947. He studied engineering at Boston Tech, the former name of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and built a career organizing civic development groups and chambers of commerce in several cities.
Ewing later moved to Williamsburg, Virginia, where he became involved with the colonial restoration project and operated a small bookstore. His best-known work, Guide Book to Williamsburg Old and New, offers a period account of Williamsburg’s historic sites and changing identity.
