William B. Stallcup Jr. was a biologist, teacher, and university leader closely associated with Southern Methodist University. SMU remembered him as a longtime biology professor who also stepped into major administrative roles, including service as president ad interim from November 1986 to August 1987 during a difficult chapter in the university’s history.

Beyond administration, Stallcup published scientific work in zoology and ornithology.
