About the author

Born in Parainen on August 14, 1870, Tekla Celia Maria Roschier was a Finnish teacher and author of youth literature. Finnish reference sources also note that she later used the surname Lampén, and that she died in Parainen on March 22, 1928.

The clearest available descriptions present her as both an educator and a writer. Library authority records identify her work in translation as well, while Project Gutenberg preserves at least two of her books, which suggests that her writing continued to circulate long after her lifetime.

Roschier's surviving reputation seems tied especially to fiction written for younger readers, with an emphasis on everyday life, growth, and values. Although detailed biographical material is limited in the sources I could confirm, she stands as part of the generation of Finnish women who helped build a reading culture for young people.
