About the author

Born in Pargas on August 14, 1870, she was a Finnish teacher and author of books for young people. She finished school in Hämeenlinna in 1895 and later earned a master's degree from the University of Helsinki in 1904.

She worked as a teacher at the co-educational school in Porvoo. In 1904 she married managing director Olli Edvard Lampén, and after the couple moved to Helsinki in 1907, she continued to be known in literary history as Tekla Roschier, sometimes also noted under her married name Lampén.

She died in Pargas on March 22, 1928. Although only a small amount of biographical information is easy to confirm online, she is consistently remembered as a Finnish educator and writer for young readers, which gives her work a clear and appealing place in Finland's literary past.
