Born Taavetti "Tatu" Pekkarinen in Kuopio on December 6, 1892, he became known in Finland as a lyricist, writer, and screenwriter with a sharp ear for everyday speech and humor. Sources describe him as an important figure in shaping the popular, folk-rooted comic style associated with eastern Finland.
