About the author

Thomas Wilcox was an English dissenting minister and devotional writer, born in 1622 and associated with Lyndon in Rutland. Although much about his early life remains unclear, later accounts place him in London, where he served a small Baptist congregation and preached during the later 17th century.

He is best known for A Choice Drop of Honey from the Rock Christ, a brief spiritual work that gained an enduring readership. Later writers described it as a minor classic of the Puritan era, and surviving bibliographic records show that it was reprinted in many later editions.

Some historical accounts also describe him as a moderate and broadly respected preacher who was invited to speak beyond his own Baptist circles. He died in 1687. No suitable verified portrait image could be confirmed from the sources reviewed, so no profile image is included.
