About the author

Terence Andrew Jenkins is a British historian and political writer born in 1958. Sources available here describe him as a historian and political scientist, and also identify him as a research officer at the History of Parliament Trust.

His books focus mainly on 19th-century British politics, especially the Victorian era. Confirmed titles include Gladstone, Whiggery, and the Liberal Party, 1874-1886, The Liberal Ascendancy, 1830-1886, Disraeli and Victorian Conservatism, Sir Robert Peel, Parliament, Party, and Politics in Victorian Britain, and Britain: A Short History.

He has also written for History Today, where his articles have explored major political figures and themes from British history. Across his work, he seems especially interested in how parties, Parliament, and personality shaped modern Britain.
