by Sven Lidman
Born in Karlskrona in 1882, Sven Lidman was a Swedish poet, novelist, and preacher. Reliable biographical sources describe him as Carl Hindrik Sven Rudolphsson Lidman, and note that he also served as a military officer and studied law at Uppsala University.
He first made his name in literature, building a reputation as a poet and writer before undergoing a religious conversion in 1917. In 1921, he joined the growing Swedish Pentecostal movement, where he became an important leader and editor alongside founder Lewi Pethrus.
Lidman died in Stockholm in 1960. His life is often remembered for the unusual way it brought together literary ambition, public faith, and a strong presence in Swedish cultural and religious life.
