Born in Paris on January 22, 1874, Stéphane Lauzanne was a French journalist best known as an editor of Le Matin. He became an important newspaper figure in France and was active during a period when the press had enormous influence on politics and public opinion.
During the First World War, he was part of the French diplomatic mission to the United States. He also wrote works published in English, including Fighting France, which helped explain the French war effort to readers abroad.
Lauzanne died in Paris in November 1958. His life remains closely tied to the history of French journalism, especially the rise of mass-circulation newspapers and their role in international affairs.
