Born in 1868, Sir Bruce Gordon Seton was a Scottish military surgeon, historian, and baronet. He served in the Indian Medical Service and later became known for his work during the First World War, including service connected with the care of Indian troops in Britain.

Alongside his medical career, he built a reputation as a serious historical writer. His best-known books include The Pipes of War, a record of pipers in Scottish and overseas regiments during the First World War, and The Prisoners of the '45, a study of people captured after the Jacobite rising. He also wrote The House of Seton, reflecting his deep interest in Scottish family and clan history.

Seton died in 1932. His writing stands out for bringing together military experience, archival research, and a lasting fascination with Scotland’s past.
