Robert Vaughan was an American writer born in 1937 who became known for his remarkable range and productivity. Writing under his own name and several pseudonyms, he published hundreds of books across many genres, including westerns, historical novels, mysteries, and romance.

He won the 1977 Porgie Award for The Power and the Pride, and he also wrote novelizations and franchise fiction alongside his original work. That versatility helped make him a familiar name to generations of paperback readers.

Vaughan continued writing for many years, building a body of work large enough to make him one of the most prolific popular fiction authors of his era. He died in March 2024.
