Richard Stead (1846–1911) was a British author, editor, and historian who wrote under the description “B.A.” and was associated with the Royal Historical Society. His books included The Story of Switzerland, written with Lina Hug, and Bygone Kent, which he edited.
Stead also wrote adventure and educational books such as Adventures on the High Seas, Adventures on the Great Rivers, Adventures on the High Mountains, and Daring Deeds of Great Mountaineers. For younger readers, he collaborated with Herbert Strang on historical tales including With the Black Prince, A Mariner of England, and With Marlborough to Malplaquet, combining fictional characters with major events from English history.
