d. 1706
Best known for helping shape the art of English change ringing, this 17th-century writer left behind one of the early practical guides to the subject. His work connects church-bell traditions, mathematics, and everyday craft in a way that still interests historians of ringing.

by Richard Duckworth, Fabian Stedman
Richard Duckworth was an English campanologist, associated especially with the development of change ringing in the late 17th century. Sources describe him as a native of Leicestershire, and suggest he may have studied at Oxford before later becoming connected with church life and ringing traditions.
He is remembered chiefly for Tintinnalogia (published in 1668), an early and influential book on change ringing, produced with Fabian Stedman. He was also associated with Campanalogia (1677), another important ringing manual that helped preserve and spread the rules and methods of the practice.
Some records list his death in 1706. No suitable verified portrait image was found on the sources checked, so a profile image is not included here.
