About the author
Rebekah Smith is a writer, translator, editor, and PhD candidate. According to the National Endowment for the Arts, her research focuses on tensions of visibility, hiding, and vanishing in the lives and work of three women poets writing in the 1970s and 1980s.
She is especially known for translation. Her English translation of Susana Thénon’s Ova Completa was published by Ugly Duckling Presse in 2021 and was a finalist for the PEN Award for Poetry in Translation.
In 2024, the National Endowment for the Arts named her a Translation Fellow. The fellowship supported her work translating a collection of unpublished poems by the Argentine poet Susana Thénon, continuing her commitment to bringing bold, challenging poetry to new readers.
