About the author

Randall W. Moir is an archaeologist and author whose published work is closely tied to North Central Texas. Records for his publications link him to reports on the Richland-Chambers Reservoir project, Joe Pool Lake, the Dallas Arboretum and DeGolyer Estate, and other cultural resource surveys.

His books and reports were produced through major archaeological projects, including work connected with Southern Methodist University's Archaeology Research Program. In the Richland Creek Technical Series, he is credited as co-editor or co-author on volumes about the archaeological project as a whole, as well as studies of pioneer settlers, tenant farmers, and historic communities in the reservoir area.

Moir's writing centers on conservation and public archaeology: documenting sites before development, gathering evidence from both artifacts and historical records, and helping preserve local heritage through detailed reports. Because readily available biographical sources are limited, public information about his life outside his published research is scarce.
