About the author

Born in County Waterford, Ireland, in 1822, Philip Bennett Power studied at Trinity College Dublin before entering the Church of England. He served in ministry in places including Leicester and London, and later held parish posts in Worthing and Eastbourne.

Power wrote prolifically, especially devotional books, tracts, and short religious sketches. His writing was aimed at everyday readers and often focused on comfort, guidance, prayer, and Christian perseverance. Works such as A Book of Comfort for Those in Sickness and The "I Wills" of the Psalms continued to be reprinted after his lifetime.

He died in Eastbourne in 1899. Reliable biographical sources agree on the broad outline of his life and reputation as a popular evangelical author, though an easily verifiable portrait image was not available from the pages I checked.
