About the author

Before building a long career in movies, Peter Milne worked as a reviewer for Motion Picture News and wrote Motion Picture Directing: The Facts and Theories of the Newest Art in 1922. That combination of criticism and practical writing gave him a close view of the fast-changing film world of the 1920s.

He went on to become an American screenwriter with credits on more than 50 films. Reference sources consistently identify him with studio-era productions including The Verdict, God's Country and the Woman, and Come Across.

Milne was born on August 15, 1896, in New York City and died on March 29, 1968, in Los Angeles County, California. Although biographical details about his private life are limited in widely available sources, his career shows a writer deeply involved in American film during a major period of growth for the industry.
