About the author

Born in 1846, Pearson M'Adam Muir was a Scottish clergyman who went on to serve as minister of Glasgow Cathedral. He later became Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland in 1910, a sign of the high regard he earned within the church.

Alongside his ministry, he wrote books and lectures on religious history and belief. Sources available here connect him with works including The Church of Scotland: A Sketch of Its History, Religious Writers of England, and Modern Substitutes for Christianity.

He died in 1924. The material I found focuses more on his church career and published works than on his private life, but it shows a writer deeply engaged with Scottish religious history and with explaining Christianity to general readers.
