1874–1961
A Polish American minister, social worker, and writer, he devoted much of his work to the history and experience of Polish communities in the United States. His books bring together scholarship, public service, and a strong interest in religion and immigration.
Born in 1874, he is described in the University of Minnesota’s archival records as a Polish American Presbyterian minister, author, and social worker. Those records also note that his papers, spanning 1890 to 1961, document his activities in both the United States and Poland.
His published work shows a clear focus on Polish history and Polish American life. The Poles in America was published in 1922, and The Reformation in Poland followed in 1924. Later bibliographic records also associate him with The Polish National Catholic Church, reflecting his long-running interest in religion, identity, and community life.
Taken together, his career suggests a writer who used history and faith as ways to explain the experiences of Polish people on both sides of the Atlantic. He died in 1961.
