Born on August 15, 1849, in Brønshøj, Otto George Lütken was a Danish naval officer and naval historian. Reference works identify him as both a career officer and a writer on naval warfare, and library records show that his published works focused on episodes from Danish and European maritime history.

Among his best-known books are Nordsø-eskadren og kampen ved Helgoland d. 9 mai 1864 and De Danske paa Schelden (1809–1813), the latter also published in French as Les danois sur l'Escaut (1809-1813). His writing centered on sea campaigns, fleets, and the historical record of Denmark’s navy, giving his books the feel of serious research shaped by professional experience.

Lütken died on May 23, 1906. While he is not widely known today outside specialist circles, his work remains of interest to readers drawn to naval history, Scandinavian history, and the wars of the early 19th century.
