by Olli Solkio
Olli Solkio was the pen name of Aino Lyydia Airamo (1883–1969), a Finnish writer and translator. She was born in Sortavala and later died in Helsinki, and Finnish library and reference sources identify Olli Solkio as the same person as Aino Airamo.
Airamo studied in Sortavala and Helsinki and was chosen in 1906 as the first head of the folk high school founded in Impilahti, in Karelia. Alongside that work, she built a literary career, writing under the name Olli Solkio while also translating books into Finnish.
Because the pen name is better known in some book catalogs than in general biographical sources, details about her life are scattered. Still, the available evidence shows a versatile literary figure whose career moved between education, original writing, and translation.
