Greg Rucka is an American writer known for The Old Guard, Whiteout, Queen & Country, Stumptown, Lazarus, and his acclaimed work on characters including Wonder Woman, Batman, Wolverine, and Elektra. He has written hundreds of comics, nearly two dozen novels, and screenplays for film and television.
Born in San Francisco and raised on California’s Monterey Peninsula, Rucka earned an English degree from Vassar College and an MFA from the University of Southern California. Before becoming a full-time writer, he worked a variety of jobs, including as an emergency medical technician, security guard, technical writer, and fight choreographer.
Rucka has received multiple Eisner Awards and a Harvey Award. He wrote the comic series The Old Guard with artist Leandro Fernández and later adapted it into the screenplay for the 2020 Netflix film.
