by Nuutti Vuoritsalo
Born in Helsinki on February 13, 1878, Knut Felix Vuoritsalo—who had earlier used the surname Hornborg—was a Finnish teacher and writer. He died in Kotka on November 12, 1913, after a relatively short life.
Vuoritsalo is especially remembered for his connection to the satirical magazine Tuulispää, to which he contributed extensively. He also published other works and writings under several names, including Felix Hornborg, Saint-Boeuf, Vuoritsalo, and N. Wuoritsalo.
The surviving record available here is brief, but it shows a versatile literary figure who moved between teaching and humorous writing. His published work reflects the lively Finnish press culture of his time, where wit, commentary, and theatrical playfulness often went hand in hand.
