Born in Kew in 1862, Norman Rowland Gale was an English poet, novelist, and reviewer who published steadily for nearly fifty years. He studied at Exeter College, Oxford, graduated in 1884, and spent some years teaching before turning to writing full-time in the early 1890s.
Gale became especially known for light, lyrical poems that celebrated country life and ordinary moments. Alongside poetry, he also wrote fiction and reviews, building a broad body of work that kept him in print for decades.
He died in 1942. A portrait image could not be confirmed from the sources checked, so none is included here.
