About the author

Born in the village of Lelić near Valjevo, he went on to become a bishop of the Serbian Orthodox Church and served as Bishop of Ohrid and Žiča. He was widely known as a gifted speaker and theological writer, and many readers remember him for works of devotion, reflection, and Christian teaching.

His life crossed some of the hardest years of the twentieth century. During World War II he was imprisoned by the German authorities and later spent his final years in the United States, where he died in 1956.

Today he remains an important and sometimes debated figure in Serbian religious and cultural history. For many believers, his legacy rests above all in his sermons, spiritual writings, and the strong personal voice that runs through them.
