About the author

Niels Meyn was a Danish writer and journalist born in Copenhagen in 1891 and died in 1957. He is remembered as an unusually productive popular author whose work ranged across children's books, crime stories, non-fiction, and science fiction. He began publishing while still very young, and his long career produced a remarkably large catalogue.

A striking part of his career was the number of pen names he used. Sources describe him as publishing under more than 30 pseudonyms, with Charles Bristol often noted as the best known. That habit helped him write for different audiences and genres, from fast-moving adventure tales to detective fiction and speculative stories.

Today, Meyn is often noted for the sheer breadth of his output and for his place in early Danish popular literature, especially children's and science-fiction writing. Some sources also mention political commitments during the 1940s, so it is best to see his legacy as substantial but not uncomplicated.
