About the author

Born in Châtellerault on December 5, 1955, Nicolas Blondeau became a respected French riding instructor known for combining classical horsemanship with ethological ideas. He founded the École Blondeau in Saumur, where he trained riders and worked with horses using the method that came to bear his name.

Blondeau wrote books centered on horse education and breaking-in, including Le débourrage and works on équitation éthologique. His writing reflects the same teaching style he was known for in the arena: practical, direct, and focused on helping people better understand how horses learn.

He died on January 22, 2026, in Saumur. Even so, his influence continues through his school, his published work, and the many riders and horse professionals shaped by his approach.
