Born in Hofgeismar on May 17, 1860, Nataly von Eschstruth was the pen name of Nataly von Knobelsdorff-Brenkenhoff. She came from an aristocratic background and became known as a German novelist whose books were widely read in the Kaiserreich and beyond.
Reference works and biographical sources describe her as an extremely productive author, especially of novels and entertainment fiction. She also wrote historical dramas, and her life included periods in Berlin and Schwerin, where she later died on December 1, 1939.
Although she is less widely known today than she was during her lifetime, her work offers a glimpse into the tastes of a large German reading audience around the turn of the century. For listeners interested in popular historical and romantic fiction from that era, her books have real period charm.
