Ann Louise Rohrke "Nan" Netherton was a Virginia historian and author best known for writing about the origins, growth, and character of Northern Virginia communities. George Mason University’s Special Collections describes her as an author and historian whose several dozen books documented the region from broad historical surveys to detailed studies of particular counties, towns, and historic sites.
Her work included books such as Reston: A New Town in the Old Dominion: A Pictorial History, Arlington County in Virginia: A Pictorial History, and Fairfax County, Virginia: A History.
