About the author

Born Maria Wilhelmina Lindroos in Helsinki on November 9, 1841, she became known as Minna Krohn after marrying the writer and educator Julius Krohn. Library authority records identify her as Maria Wilhelmina Krohn and place her life from 1841 to 1917.

She is associated with children’s literature and with the children’s magazine Pääskynen, where she worked as an editor. Her writing is remembered as part of the early development of Finnish-language reading for children, and her work helped build a literary culture aimed at younger audiences.
