John Ewing (1883–1934) was a British Army officer who served with the 6th King’s Own Scottish Borderers. He held the rank of brevet-major and was awarded the Military Cross.
Ewing is best known for The History of the 9th (Scottish) Division, 1914–1919, published in 1921 with an introduction by Field-Marshal Lord Plumer. He later wrote the two-volume The Royal Scots, 1914–1919, published in 1925.
His books combine military narrative with close attention to battalions, commanders, operations, and the experiences of soldiers across the Western Front and other wartime campaigns.
