Born in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Amelia Clotilda Jennings was a Canadian writer who published under several names, including Maude Alma and Mileta. She wrote poetry, fictional letters, and novels, and much of her work drew on the people and settings of her home province.

Her books include Linden Rhymes, Isabel Leicester, and Fables by Mileta. Though not widely known today, she had a varied literary career and contributed to the lively world of 19th-century Canadian writing.

Jennings died in Montreal in 1895. Her surviving work offers a glimpse of a writer interested in emotion, character, and regional life, with a voice that still feels warm and readable.
