About the author

Mathilda Ljung-Dahl was the pen name of Hilda Hagman (1853–1935), a Finnish writer and teacher. Library authority records identify Ljung-Dahl as her pseudonym and note that she worked at Kronoborg agricultural school.

She is known for I herrskapshus: en tjänarinnas minnen, first published in Swedish in 1913. Finnish library records describe the book as memoir-like writing about domestic service, and list a Finnish translation, Herrasperheissä: palvelijattaren muistelmia, published in 1916.

Only a small amount of biographical information was easy to confirm from reliable public sources, but her work clearly stands out for focusing on class, household life, and the experiences of servants in the early 20th century. No suitable verified portrait image was found from the sources checked.
