Born in London on 31 October 1862, Mary Angela Dickens was the oldest grandchild of Charles Dickens. She grew up in a family closely tied to the literary world and went on to become a novelist and journalist during the late Victorian and Edwardian years.

She wrote fiction as well as short pieces for periodicals, and she is also remembered for helping preserve the Dickens family story.
