About the author

Based in Goshen, Indiana, Marshall V. King is a writer, photographer, and longtime community journalist. Information on his author and personal pages describes a career rooted in the South Bend–Elkhart region, where he has written about food, local government, economics, faith, and community life.

He graduated from Eastern Mennonite University in 1992 and worked first at The Goshen News. He later spent more than 20 years at The Elkhart Truth as a reporter, columnist, and editor, including a long-running weekly food column called Dining A La King. After the paper was sold in 2016, he continued his work as a freelance writer.

As an author, he wrote Disarmed: The Radical Life and Legacy of Michael "MJ" Sharp, published by Herald Press in 2022. The book reflects the same strengths seen in his journalism: close reporting, interest in lived experience, and a clear concern for how people shape their communities and convictions.
