Born in Waverley, Massachusetts, on June 10, 1883, Marion Florence Lansing studied at Mount Holyoke College and later earned a master's degree from Radcliffe College. She grew up in Cambridge, traveled abroad, and went on to build a career as an author and educator.
Lansing wrote for young readers with a strong interest in history, biography, and storytelling. Her books include Page, Esquire, and Knight: A Book of Chivalry, Patriots and Tyrants, and Liberators and Heroes of South America, works that reflect her gift for turning historical subjects into engaging narratives.
She died in 1966. Although she is not widely known today, her books remain of interest to readers who enjoy older children's nonfiction and classic historical writing.
