by Manly P. (Manly Palmer) Hall
Born in 1901, Manly P. Hall was a Canadian-born author and lecturer who built a large following through talks and books on philosophy, symbolism, comparative religion, and esoteric traditions. He is especially associated with The Secret Teachings of All Ages, the ambitious illustrated volume he published while still a young man.
Over the course of his long career, he wrote and lectured extensively on myth, ethics, ancient beliefs, and the symbolic side of culture. He later founded the Philosophical Research Society in Los Angeles, which became closely linked with his educational work and public lectures.
Hall died in 1990, but his books continue to circulate widely among readers interested in mysticism, hidden symbolism, and the spiritual ideas behind world traditions.
