About the author

M. Pajari was the pen name of Tyyne Maria (Maija) Rautio (February 6, 1900 – July 26, 1972), a Finnish writer born in Tampere and later deceased in Helsinki. Sources also note that she used the pseudonyms Taurus and Urania.

She is known for the 1921 book Elämä ja minä: Suorasanaisia runoja (Life and I: Prose Poems), a collection of prose poems. Contemporary catalog and reference sources describe her more broadly as a writer who also produced magazine fiction and horoscope material for newspapers and magazines.

Although not widely known outside Finland today, Pajari's surviving work suggests a voice drawn to feeling, introspection, and everyday emotional life. For listeners and readers coming to her through Elämä ja minä, she offers a glimpse of early 20th-century Finnish literary expression at its most personal and direct.
