About the author

Born in Barcelona in 1861, Miquel Figuerola i Aldrofeu wrote across several genres, including poetry, narrative fiction, and theater. Sources describe him as a Catalan writer with a strong gift for comic and satirical writing, and they also note that he was active as a photographer.

His work was connected to the lively print and theater culture of late 19th-century Catalonia. He contributed to La Tramuntana, was associated with the Centre Català, and much of his writing was published through the Llibreria Espanyola of Innocenci López. Among the books and plays linked to him are the poetry collections Palpitacions and Temps perdut, the novel L'esca del pecat, and popular stage pieces such as Servei de plata and L'home dels nassos.

He died in 1913. Although he may not be widely known today outside specialist circles, his range of work and his success with humorous Catalan theater make him an interesting figure in the literary world of his time.
