About the author

Born in Lewisville, Ohio, on November 25, 1899, Linden Forest Edwards studied at Ohio State University, earning a bachelor of arts degree in 1922, a master of science degree in 1923, and a Ph.D. in 1928. He also continued graduate study at the University of Michigan and the University of Illinois.

Edwards built his career in teaching and medical education. He served as an instructor in zoology at Ohio State from 1923 to 1925 and in anatomy at the University of Illinois from 1925 to 1929. From 1929 onward, he worked in several roles in the College of Medicine at Ohio State University, and he was active in organizations including the American Association of Anatomists, the American Association of the History of Medicine, and the Ohio Academy of Medical History.

Alongside his academic work, he published books such as Anatomy for Physical Education, Concise Anatomy, and Synopsis of Anatomy. He also wrote historical pieces, including Cincinnati’s "Old Cunny": A Notorious Purveyor of Human Flesh, showing a strong interest in medical and regional history as well as anatomy.
