About the author

Born in Lewisville, Ohio, on November 25, 1899, Linden Forest Edwards studied at Ohio State University, earning a B.A. in 1922 and an M.S. in 1923. He went on to build his career as a professor of anatomy at Ohio State, combining classroom knowledge with a strong interest in the history of his field.

Edwards wrote both textbooks and historical studies. His books include Concise Anatomy, as well as works on dissection, body snatching, and medical law such as The History of Human Dissection, Body Snatching in Ohio During the Nineteenth Century, and Cincinnati's "Old Cunny": A Notorious Purveyor of Human Flesh. His writing shows a clear fascination with the hidden stories behind medical education and anatomical research.

He died in 1970. Though not a household name, Edwards left behind a distinctive body of work that bridges science and history, making complex medical subjects accessible while preserving some of the more curious episodes in American medical life.
