About the author

Born Natalina Cavalieri on December 25, 1874, in Viterbo, Italy, she built an extraordinary career after a hard start in life. She first performed in cafés and variety shows, then moved into opera, where her voice and striking stage presence quickly won attention.

By the early 1900s, she was appearing in major European cities and later in New York, becoming known both as a soprano and as a celebrity admired for her beauty. She also worked in silent films and wrote about beauty and self-care, showing how comfortably she moved between music, theater, film, and popular culture.

She died in Florence on February 7, 1944. Even now, she remains a vivid figure of her time: a performer remembered not only for her singing, but for the glamour, ambition, and public fascination that surrounded her career.
