About the author

Lauri Heisalo was the pen name of Arvo Lauri Vuori, a Finnish playwright born on February 10, 1884, in Maaria and deceased on October 28, 1957, in Nousiainen. The brief biographical records available describe him specifically as a writer for the stage.

His known works include Avioliittoilmoitus: pilakuvaus 2:ssa kohtauksessa and Neljä yksinpuhelua, both published by Karisto in 1910, with later editions showing that at least some of his writing continued to be reissued. That suggests his plays had a practical afterlife in performance or recitation, even if detailed biographical information about him is now hard to find.

Today, Heisalo appears mainly through library catalogs, Project Gutenberg, and concise encyclopedia entries. While little else could be confirmed from reliable sources consulted here, his surviving publications point to a place in early 20th-century Finnish popular theater and light dramatic writing.
