Born in Winchester, Hampshire, on 24 December 1860, Lucy Gertrude Moberly was an English author and poet who also published as L. G. Moberly. Reference sources describe her as the daughter of Henry Edward Moberly, Vicar of Heckfield, and Lucy Proby Moberly.

Moberly wrote a large body of fiction and poetry, and modern library and literary records credit her with more than 50 novels. Her books were popular enough in their day to attract mainstream notice, and her stories appeared in the lively magazine culture of the late Victorian and Edwardian period as well as in book form.
