About the author

Born in Winchester, Hampshire, Lucy Gertrude Moberly was an English writer who published under the name L. G. Moberly. Reliable reference sources identify her as a poet and author of romances, and note that she was the daughter of Henry Edward Moberly, Vicar of Hechfield.

She was educated as a nurse, an experience that also fed into her writing: she contributed articles about nursing to The Lady’s Magazine in 1903. Her known books include Christina (1912), Cleansing Fires (1914), and Stepping Stones (1930), and modern library and public-domain records show that she wrote more than 50 novels over the course of her career.

Moberly died in London on March 20, 1931. Though she is less widely known today, her work still survives through library collections and public-domain archives, where readers can discover the blend of romance, storytelling, and occasional poetry that made her a successful author in her own time.
