About the author

Born in Anjala, Finland, in 1894, she was known as Hilja Alli Kyllikki Malin and used the surname Malisto from 1935 onward. Finnish reference sources describe her not only as a writer, but also as an illustrator, visual artist, graphic artist, and textbook author.

Her books include the fiction titles Kangastusta (1925) and Pappilan mäeltä (1929), published under the name Kyllikki Malin. Later works under Kyllikki Malisto include the poetry collection Kylpevä kuu (1946) and the design-related book Kampausalan piirustus ja muotoilu (1958), showing the wide range of her interests.

She died in Helsinki in 1981. Some library and literary records also connect her with children’s literature and illustration, which adds to the picture of a versatile creative life rather than one limited to a single genre.
