About the author

Born in Tottijärvi on December 24, 1865, Kuuno Adalbert TalviOja was a Finnish teacher and literary scholar. His family name was originally Bäckman, and he studied at the University of Helsinki, completing his degree work in 1890.

Most of his career was tied to Heinola, where he served as a junior lecturer in religion and Swedish at the local middle school and its upper classes from 1893 to 1933. He also worked as a headmaster for the upper classes and spent time observing teaching in Swiss schools on a state stipend in 1913. Alongside school work, he was involved in journalism at times.

TalviOja wrote literary research, including a 1915 study of Jaakko Juteini, and his work helped preserve interest in an earlier generation of Finnish writing. Based on the sources found here, no suitable verified portrait image was available from the pages reviewed.
