author
1850–1936
Known for vivid sea stories, this Norwegian writer built his reputation on tales of sailors, smugglers, and gold seekers. His books from the 1880s lean into adventure while keeping one foot in everyday maritime life.

by Just W. Flood
Just W. Flood, or Just Wright Flood, was a Norwegian author born in Heddal in 1850 and died in 1936. Store norske leksikon identifies him as a writer of maritime fiction and notes that his main run of books appeared between 1881 and 1886.
During those years he published a string of sea tales, including Fem Aar til sjøs, Smuglergods, Fra Hav og Strand, Fra Land og Sjø, and Sjømænd og Gullgravere. The titles alone give a good sense of his world: ships, coasts, hard travel, and adventure at sea.
He was also part of a literary family. Store norske leksikon notes that he was the brother of Jørgen W. Flood and the father of writer Ingeborg Flood. I couldn’t confirm a suitable portrait image from the sources I checked, so no profile photo is included.
